 VOCAL LESSONS

Vocal lessons at JKW Music Studio are award-winning and highly acclaimed. After studying opera and dedicating her life to singing, Jessica founded the studio offering primarily voice lessons. Now, we are thrilled to offer private lessons with a roster of hand-selected teachers.

The caliber of training you receive with our team is unparalleled. Here, adults and kids can explore vocal technique, rhythm, pitch, performance techniques, and virtually every style of music, from jazz to rock.

 PIANO LESSONS

J. Kos-Whicher Performing Arts Studio is home to some of Winnipeg's most accomplished music teachers. No matter what skill level you or your child are at, students are welcomed into an environment where they will be encouraged, challenged, and guided by highly trained musicians.

Teachers will check in with the students on what style of music they want to play. This helps to keep engagement high and, of course, for lessons to remain fun! If RCM exams and classical music theory are what interest you, then that will be the focus of the lessons.

GUITAR & UKULELE LESSONS

Learn to master your favourite folk tunes- pick up a guitar or ukelele! By playing one of these instruments, your finger dexterity, overall coordination, rhythm, and understanding of musical theory are guaranteed to improve. Students are welcome to take a private music lesson.

Kids and adults can learn to play the ukulele and guitar very quickly, with the major hurdles being the initial callusing of your fingers. Don't worry, it's a very temporary experience!

 MUSIC THEORY LESSONS

Its time to learn the technical side of music.

Our university-educated teachers love to teach music theory! We keep this class small to help each student really learn the fundamentals and give them close guidance as the more confusing aspects of theory come up. Parents looking to prepare their child for a university exam can sign up for our music theory lessons, or students who want to complement their voice, piano, or ukelele/guitar lessons will also find this class incredibly helpful.

Music theory is an essential foundation for reading Lead Sheet music, writing the melody and accompaniment of songs (whether classical, pop, or otherwise!), and, of course, the very life and soul of jazz music.
